I wrote about running before. How it’s my therapy, my daily routine, my time in nature. I love it. So if I can run and do something for the Usher cause, I say: a match made in heaven!

Last year #teamjackson ran with a group of 8 people during a run4usher at the Zevenheuvelenloop in Nijmegen (The Netherlands). For 4 years now, The Usher Syndrome Foundation has a run4usher team at the Zevenheuvelenloop in order to raise money to support their research in a cure for Usher. For me it was the first time that I actually met people with Usher. It was a very special night.

This year the foundation asked me, and a couple of other Usher parents, to help a hand. Ambitious as we are, we set the goal to double the amount of run4usher runners and also double the amount of money raised.

So, to all the people who have asked me: what can I do to help? You can still register to run with us on November 18th or 19th. There is a 7K run on Saturday night, in the dark, so extra challenging for people with Usher. On Sunday there is a 15k run. Both runs are fun and set in a beautiful landscape that includes 7 hills (Dutch hills, it’s not the Alps or the Rockies). You have to register via www.nnzevenheuvelenloop.nl. Afterwards drop an email with your contact details to run4usher@stichtingushersyndroom.nl and we’ll keep you updated on all practical things. We have a location to meet up before and after the run.

Not much of a runner but you still want to support us? You can sponsor #teamjackson via this page: www.whydonate.nl/run4usher-teamjackson/event. All the money will go directly to The Usher Syndrome Foundation. The Foundation carries the ANBI status (Public Benefit Organisation) which makes your donation tax-detuctible.

I am happy and proud to say that team Jackson is currently running with 57 people, but we welcome more. Your donation is very much appreciated and brings Jackson a step closer to a cure for Usher. #teamjackson #stopUSH
